To Read Additions & a November 2025 Life Update

Instead of being able to read, as I adore being able to do… Books are my love language, my comfort food, my tiny rebellions, and my escape… right now my “fun reading” time has been temporarily reassigned to “trying not to cry into APA citations.” I’ll be back to devouring novels like a starved raccoon in a campground cooler just as soon as I graduate in May.

Until then, I’m living vicariously through all of you with functioning attention spans. And because I refuse to let my TBR crumble into dust while I masquerade as a responsible adult, here are the new books I cannot wait to inhale the minute the tassel flips.

The number one book I am most excited to read:

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, by V.E. Schwab

I have very few authors that I would ride into battle for, just blindly slaying anything in their path. She is one of them, and I just love V.E. Schwab. Everything I’ve read of hers is gold. Case in point: the incomparable Julia Whelan is one of the readers of her audiobook. And if you know me, you know JW is also one of the humans I would pay any amount of money to listen to as she reads a book. She is also just. that. good.

It’s a story about female vampires, across 3 time periods (the 1500s, 1800s, and 2010s), which is one of my favorite parts about The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, so this is my number one read the moment grad school is over!

Also, a little life update if you would like one :

Taking a break from reading to hike with family

My husband and I took a hike with my cousin and his fiancé. It was a nice afternoon in Yellow Springs.

Take a reading break to see The Wiz

My mom and I went to see The Wiz at the Schuster Center, and it was wonderful!

PD Day Fun: Decorate a potato

We decorated potatoes at a PD session at school, and I decided this one needed to be a frog / toadtato.

A horizontal blue-gray divider line with a soft pink heart in the center, used to visually break up content in reading and memory-focused resources.

Happy reading, friends!

Love, Lauren
