Behind the blog
How it all started
As a high school English teacher, I have spent the past 14+ years teaching teens who hated reading (or thought they did). They weren’t lazy or uninterested; they were overwhelmed, discouraged, and constantly being told what they should be reading. So I started making tools to help them remember what they read, build confidence, and (gasp) maybe even enjoy a book again. Think: reading trackers that aren’t boring, strategies that work with their Tik-Tok-addled attention spans, and ways to celebrate small wins like finishing a chapter without rereading it four times.
Then one night at book club, it hit me: grown women are struggling with the same exact things. We’d show up with half-read books, vague memories of the plot, and a whole lot of shame about “not keeping up.” That’s when I started adapting my student resources for real-life adult readers—the kind juggling careers, kids, burnout, and massive overwhelming TBR piles. This blog grew from that realization. It’s all about taking the pressure off and giving you tools that make reading work for you again—without feeling like you’re doing classwork.
